Main duties

Reporting directly to the President, the Finance Director plays a key role in strategic planning, resource optimization, and overseeing financial and administrative processes. The Finance Director ensures that the company has the necessary resources to achieve its growth and profitability objectives.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management:
    • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company’s objectives.
    • Ensure the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Manage cash flow, financial forecasts, and budgets.
    • Oversee internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with accounting and tax standards.
    • Analyze financial performance and recommends corrective actions if necessary.
    • Establish systems and policies for financial management, general accounting, cost accounting, credit, and internal auditing.
    • Manage product pricing when required.
  2. Strategic Planning:
    • Participate in the development of the company’s strategic plans by providing financial analyses and recommendations.
    • Collaborate with the President and the management team to identify growth, acquisition, or expansion opportunities.
    • Develop financial models to evaluate the impacts of strategic decisions.
  3. General Administration:
    • Oversee IT services.
    • Ensure effective management of contracts, supplier negotiations, and purchasing policies.
    • Manage risks related to compliance, security, and company insurance.
  4. Team Management and Communication:
    • Prepare and present financial reports to the President and the board of directors.
    • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including financial partners and regulatory bodies.
    • Lead and develops the finance and IT team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
    • Ensure continuous training and professional development of team members.
    • Evaluate team performance and provides constructive feedback.

Required qualities

Education and/or Experience:

  • Degree in finance, accounting, management, or a related field and a CPA designation. An MBA is an asset.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior finance role, preferably in the pharmaceutical or CDMO services sector.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent understanding of accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial management practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Ability to work strategically and operationally in a fast-evolving environment.
  • Experience as an auditor and financial controller is an asset.
  • Experience with private and publicly traded companies.
  • Exceptional financial acumen, strong business sense, critical thinking skills, and relevant financial modeling experience.
  • Understanding and experience working in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to gain experience in project management and major initiatives management.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Experience with SAP software is an asset.
  • Proven ability to operate and thrive in a dynamic, high-growth company.
  • Comfortable working in a constantly evolving company.
  • Excellent proficiency in spoken and written French and English (90% communications with clients and suppliers).
